About the Photography
Taking a sucessful photograph means using the language of the camera, OK. But although the creative vision speaks that language, the camera is merely a machine in service of the vision. When it is less than the idea, it needs our guidance. I subscribe to this rationale for image processing.
That doesn't mean I want to leave tracks behind -- I try to keep true to the intent without changing the language. I admire those whose with fluent craftsmanship who take my breath away.
To me, a great - or merely successful - work of art requires an artist to achieve four things:
- 1. Create a personal language for communication.
- 2. Communicate in that language.
- 3. Have something to say.
- 4. Say it in a way that creates magic.
I hope you agree.
